Dusty's thoughts of the day...

Good morning all my friends out there in the world. I hope you are having a great week! The weekend is nearly upon us and even though it is cold out there, make sure you get out and have some fun.

Our area has several tree lighting ceremonies this weekend which I will be attending, so if you see me, please say hi! I love to talk to folks. I already have my tree up at home for this year, so I am set, but I do love to see the community trees being lit up and seeing all the folks come together to celebrate. It is a wonderful feeling, despite the cold. Plus, there will be other events happening to which will make it even more fun.

My thoughts this morning dwell on the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner. My sister and I are splitting duties in the kitchen and while she is taking care of the traditional meal items, turkey, potatoes, cookies, and such, I am going to be putting on my inventive cap and coming up with some new non-traditional dishes. Her and I agreed it is time to shake things up a bit.

What are some of your favorite non-traditional dishes or something you have recently tried that is new? I would love to get some inspiration from all of you out there. I am going to do a couple of side dishes and a dessert, so I have my hands full to be sure. I will of course be making homemade cream of mushroom soup for the green bean casserole and for my before dinner treat. As you all know I love homemade soups.

Well, all the food talk is making me hungry! Have a great Thursday everyone and be sure to share your favorite food ideas! Also, be sure to subscribe to my daily blog and website where I share recipes, travel adventures, stories, and of course, my thoughts of the day. You can have them emailed directly to you! How cool is that? Love you all and stay warm!!!!
